To allocate a code to an individual student, start at the top of the list and work down. Use the first code that applies to the student.
Type of learning
Maori-medium Education – Students are taught curriculum subjects in both Maori and English (bilingual).
Te Reo Maori – Students learn Maori Language as a separate subject.
Taha Maori – Students learn waiata, greetings and simple phrases.
Indigenous language level
The following indigenous language levels are used in the NZMOE tab of Current Student Maintenance:
