Creating new subject assessment areas

To create a new subject assessment area:

Select Curriculum > Assessment Area Maintenance from the SynWeb main menu.
The Set Subject Assessment Area Search Criteria window is displayed.
Search for the assessment area.
Click on the Area bar.
Tip: You can click anywhere on the bar other than the caption to open it.
Click next to the subject assessment area you want to maintain.
The Area tab of the Area bar of Subject Assessment Area Maintenance is displayed.
Click .
The New Area window is displayed.
Type the details of the area into the fields according to the table below.
Note: The Overall Seq field is read only unless the assessment area is an Overall Assessment.
Click .
The subject assessment area is created.

New Area window key fields and buttons

Fields

Field	Description
Seq	The sequence order for the assessment area. Leave this field blank if you want the assessment area to be added to the end of the assessment area list.
Result Group	Group of subject assessment areas that this area is a part of. Tip: Use to create groups if you have a large number of assessment areas to manage. You can work with the groups instead of each individual assessment area in Results Maintenance. See Results Maintenance - Single window. Note: Values are maintained in the luReportResultGroup lookup table. See luReportResultGroup lookup table in the Synergetic System maintenance manual.
Result Type	Result values available for the subject assessment area. Result types restrict the valid values that you can enter in this field. This is so that the data presented on reports is consistent. Note: Values are maintained in the luReportResultType lookup table. See luReportResultType lookup table in the Synergetic System maintenance manual.
Heading	A description of the assessment area.
Overall Seq	If Overall Result is selected this: is the sequence this assessment area will appear on the report within any other overall results can be used to identify one overall result from another for the reports. Overall Seq 1 and Overall Seq 2 results appear in the Classes tab of Current Student Maintenance. See Current Student Maintenance - Classes tab in the Synergetic Current students manual.
Overall Assessment	Select if this is to be the overall result for the students.

Buttons

Button	Description
	Create the subject assessment area.
	Close the New Area window without creating the subject assessment area.
