Tuition variation example

Tuition variation is used to vary the fee code applied to individual students.

For example, full-fee-paying students could be assigned a tuition variation code of F. Whenever you want to vary the tuition code for these students you create a new fee code in Debtor Fee Maintenance. See Maintaining debtor fees.

For example, the standard fee code and the fee code with a tuition variation might be:

Fee code

Description

TS12

Normal year 12 - tuition fee = $3,000

Senior campus, year level = 12, tuition variation = " "

TS12F

Full-fee year 12 - tuition fee = $6,000

Senior campus, year level = 12, tuition variation = "F"

Note: If you have one fee code with an auto tuition type with a tuition variation, all combinations of fee codes/tuition variation codes must be created.

If a tuition variation is not required for some auto tuition types, then there is no need to set up fee codes with tuition variations.

Fee code

Description

CC

Consolidated charge = $500

Tuition variation = " "

Note: The consolidated charge is not applied to student with a tuition variation code of "F".

CCF (not required)
