Using the Home window

Each time you log in, the Home window is displayed. The Home window contains information and functions you might want to access quickly, such as:

Note: You can return to the Home window at any time by clicking Home icon on the SynWeb main menu.

Fields

Description

Attendance Officer / Teacher Mode

Determines whether data entered on the Home window is treated either:

  • definitively, in Attendance Officer mode
  • as possibilities, in Teacher mode
  • as possibilities, if this option is not configured at your organisation.

    Note: To turn on this setting, see EnableAttendanceOfficerModeFlag configuration setting in the System maintenance manual.

Timetable Date

Select the date of the timetable you want to view.

Grid area fields

Field

Description

Time

Time the class is scheduled to begin.

Period

Period the class occurs in.

Room

Room the class is scheduled in.

Note: You can click on one of four launch links to mark attendance for that class: Period, Room, Class and Description.

Class

Unique class code to identify the class.

Description

Description of the class.

Staff

Staff member scheduled to take the class.

Crystal reports available icon

Launch a hot report for the timetable. Hot reports can be viewed in:

  • PDF
  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Excel.

Delete icon (red circle with minus) (synweb)

SynWeb allows you to cancel an entire class to maintain accurate records.

For example, you cancel classes when the regular timetable is disrupted due to:

  • a sports day
  • a school camp
  • another event.

Pastoral care icon (note)

Create a pastoral care item relating to a student in this class.

Click on any of the five links to display the Attendance Maintenance window for the selected class. See Attendance Maintenance window in the Attendance manual.

Tip: Click on the Class link by default.

Field / Icons

Description

File Type

Classification of the class.

For example Academic, Music, Sport. See File types.

Class

Unique class code used to identify the class.

Note: You can click on a class or its description to enter class maintenance for that class. See Class / Description launch link below.

Description

Description of the class.

Report

Launch a hot report for the class. Hot reports can be viewed in:

  • PDF
  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Excel.

Email

Click Email Icon (synweb) to send an email to students of that class.

Results

Progress made in entering student results.

Note: You can click on a results icon to launch Assessment Maintenance for that class.
