Changing pay rates for pay codes

Pay rates can be changed for pay codes through the Payroll Pay Rate Maintenance window. When pays are processed, Synergetic calculates the correct amounts for employees with pay rates that have been changed mid pay period. You can:

• specify a new pay amount, rate or factor for a pay code

Note: Employees that override the default pay rate cannot have their pay rate edited here. You must change the employee's pay code pay rate. See Changing pay rates for employees.

• specify the date from which the change will take effect
• view employees that use the default pay rate for a pay code and will be affected by this pay rate change
• view employees that override the default pay code pay rate and will not be affected by a pay rate change.

Note: Pay rate changes are not finalised until the pay period that includes the Effective Date has been processed. Until this point, any pay rate changes can be reverted.

Changing pay rates for pay codes

To change the pay rate for a pay code:

1. Select Module > Payroll > Pay Rate Maintenance.

   The Payroll Pay Rate Maintenance window is displayed.

   

2. Select the Pay Code you want to change.

   

   Note: You can change more than one pay code at a time if you want to apply the same change. For example, you may want to increase several pay rates by the same percentage.

   Tip: Use the filters remove the unnecessary pay codes from the grid.

3. Select the Target Field you want to change.

   

4. Select the Default Effective Date. For example, if you want the new rates to start from the start of the 2011 financial year, select 01/07/2011 as the Default Effective Date.

   

5. Either:
   • Type a percentage increase for the pay rate in the % Change field and click .

     

     For example, to increase a pay rate by 10%, type 10.

     Decreases can be made by using a minus sign, for example -10.

   • Type a new value for the Rate, Factor or Amount in the New Value field and click

     

     Tip: You can also edit these fields in the grid.

   A dialog showing the details of the change is displayed.

6. Click .

   The pay rate change is recorded.

Note: If the affected employees are in a current pay run, you need to reload them in the pay run for the changes to take effect. See Current Pay Maintenance - Detail tab.
