Defining an award

Before you can begin to allocate points and assign the award to students, you must define the:

To define an award:

  1. Select Module > System > Lookup table maintenance.

    The Lookup Table Maintenance window is displayed. See Lookup Table Maintenance window in the System maintenance manual.

  2. Search for the luAwardClassification lookup table.
  3. Click Add button to create a new award classification if required. See luAwardClassification lookup table in the System maintenance manual.
  4. Click Save button (configuration file maintenance).

  5. Search for the luAward lookup table.
  6. Click Add button to create a new record and enter the relevant information for your award. See luAward lookup table in the System maintenance manual.
  7. Click Save button (configuration file maintenance).

  8. Search for the luAwardRequiredPoints lookup table.
  9. Click Add button to create a new record and enter the Code for the award that you defined in step 6 from the drop-down list.
  10. Type the number of points that the student has to earn before they qualify for the award in the RequiredPoints field. See luAwardRequiredPoints lookup table in the System maintenance manual.

    Tip: The RequiredPoints field defines the number of points that a student must earn to be assigned the award. The points gained by a student for fulfilling certain criteria are defined in Subject Assessment Maintenance. See Allocating award points to students.

  11. Click Save button (configuration file maintenance).

Unique identifier for the award.

Description

Name of the award.

ClassificationCode

Classification of the award. See luAwardClassification.

ActiveFlag

Select if the award can be used in Synergetic.

Tip: Ensure that you select this flag for any award you want to assign.

SortOrder

Order that the award appears in drop-down lists. Lower numbers appear higher up in the list.

PublishDescription

Description about the award that may be used for internal or external purposes. For example, a short paragraph about the award to be published in your organisation's yearbook.

Comment

Further information about the award.

Value

This field is not currently used.

ModifiedDate

The most recent date the award was modified.

ModifiedUser

The user who last modified the award.
