Enabling co-curricular electives on the Community Portal

To enable Co-Curricular electives on the Community Portal:

1. Create co-curricular elective types.
2. Activate co-curricular elective types.

Creating co-curricular elective types

To create co-curricular elective types:

1. Login to Synergetic windows client with administrator rights.
2. Select Module > System > Lookup Tables Maintenance.

   The Lookup Table Maintenance window is displayed.

   

3. Search for the luElectiveGroup lookup table. See luElectiveGroup lookup table.

   

4. Type a Code for the elective type. For example, Senior.
5. Type a Description for the elective type. For example, Senior school students.
6. Type a YearLevelFrom number for the elective type.
7. Type a YearLevelTo number for the elective type.
8. Populate the following fields, if required:
   • AgeFrom
   • AgeTo
   • Gender
   • Campus
   • MinSelection
   • MaxSelection
   • IncludeFutureStudentsCommencingAfterDate.
9. Select a SelectMode option.

   

   You can select either:

   • Preferences to display drop-down lists for students to number their elective preferences
   • Selection to display checkboxes for students to add their elective preference
   • Selection+AutoEnrol to automatically enrol the student into their selected elective preference.

     Note: You must choose a SelectMode option.

10. Click .
11. Repeat steps 4 through 11 to add additional elective types.

Activating co-curricular electives on the Community Portal

To activate co-curricular electives on the Community Portal:

1. Login to Synergetic windows client with administrator rights.
2. Select Module > Students > Class Maintenance.

   The Set Class Search Criteria window is displayed.

   

3. Select the co-curricular File Type to be configured for electives.

   

4. Select the co-curricular term.

   Note: The first four terms are academic terms. Term 5 is the first co-curricular term. See Creating Co-Curricular terms, semesters and reporting periods in the SynWeb Co-Curriculum manual.

5. Click .

   The Class Maintenance - General tab is displayed.

   

6. Select a co-curricular class in the Class Selector.

   

7. Click the Web Elective tab.

   The Web Elective tab is displayed.

   

8. Select an Elective Group. See luElectiveGroup lookup table.

   

9. Type a Portal Description. For example, Basketball.
10. Populate the following fields:
    • Gender
    • Campus
    • Year Level From
    • Year Level To
    • Age From
    • Age To.

      Note: These fields will autocomplete when the Elective Group is selected if you have already selected values in the luElectiveGroup lookup table. See luElectiveGroup lookup table.

11. Select the Active field.
12. Click .

    The following areas are updated:

    • Cycle Maintenance - Eligibility Rules tab. See Cycle Maintenance - Eligibility Rules tab in the Synergetic Curriculum manual.
    • Sports tab in the Community Portal.
13. Repeat steps 3 through 12 to display additional electives on the Community Portal.
