General area fields

Start Date |
Date that the employee commenced employment at your organisation. |
Override Start Date |
Select to indicate that the employee's start date in Payroll should be different from the one in Human resources. This field then no longer appears as a discrepancy. |
Leave Start Date Adjust (Months) |
An adjustment to the length of the employee's service when calculating leave entitlement. Use a positive number to decrease the length of time the employee has worked for you, and a negative number to increase it. For example, if:

Override Category |
Select to indicate that the employee's category in Payroll should be different from the one in Human resources. This field then no longer appears as a discrepancy. |
Category |
Category for the payroll employees. For example, administration staff. |
Pay Group |
Group for processing pays with a similar period. For example, weekly or monthly pay groups. This field also controls the payment frequency and is used when you bulk pay employees. |

Payslip Notification Method |
Method used to send payslips to the employee. Note: If the notification method is set to Email, and no email address is provided, payslips will be printed for this employee instead. |
Leave Calculation Method |
Method used to calculate leave entitlements:

Timesheet Mode |
Select how this employee can submit timesheets in the SynWeb Staff Kiosk. Modes include:

Taxation Details area fields

Tax File Number |
Tax file number used by the taxation office. Supplied by the employee on the tax form filled in at the commencement of employment. |
Tax Scale |
Tax scale that applies for the employee based on information supplied by the employee upon the commencement of their employment. Note: Whenever tax rates change, your administrator will receive a text file from Synergetic Management Systems that they can import. See Loading new tax rates. |
Super Tax Percent |
Percentage of tax to pay on superannuation, if overriding the default. |
Taxation Details area fields (Australia only)
Dependant Rebate |
Full amount of the dependent spouse rebate claimed for the year. |
Pays HELP Tax |
Select if the employee has a HECS-HELP debt that is being repaid. |
Reportable Fringe Benefits |
Amount of fringe benefits tax required to be reported to the tax office. If you provide any employee benefits that are taxable, where the total taxable value of those fringe benefits exceeds the FBT (fringe benefits tax) limit in a FBT year, you are required to report an amount on the employee's payment summary. Contact the ATO for the current FBT limit. |
PAYG Summary Printed / Date |
This field is automatically selected when you print your PAYG Summaries at the end of the financial year. If you print a summary for an employee at some other time, select this to show that the summary has been printed and when. |
ATO sent copy of PAYG Summary |
This field is automatically selected when you print your PAYG Summaries at the end of the financial year. If you send an employee's summary to the taxation office, select to show that it has been sent and when. |
