Applying AusVELS to relevant subject assessments

The following subjects require AusVELS reporting in 2013: English, Maths, Science and History.

Note: The use of AusVELS for Religious Education is optional in 2013.

To apply AusVELS to the relevant subject assessments:

1. Select the subject assessment area that requires an AusVELS result type. See Searching for subjects and assessment areas in the Assessment and reports manual.
2. Open the Area tab – Area sub-tab for the subject assessment area. See Subject Assessment Maintenance - Area tab - Area sub-tab.
3. Set the Result Type field to AUSVELS.

   Tip: If the AUSVELS result type does not appear, make sure you have added AUSVELS to the luReportResultType lookup table. To refresh the field, right click then select Refresh Lookup Table (for active control).

4. Click .

   The VELS Search window is displayed.

   

5. Select the relevant Domain and Dimension.
6. Click .
7. Click the Domains tab.

   The Subject Assessment Maintenance - Area tab - Domains sub-tab is displayed. See Subject Assessment Maintenance - Area tab - Domains sub-tab.

8. Ensure that the grid values follow the Domain/Subject Description and Dimension/Strand Description in AusVELS descriptions.

   Tip: You can change the names of the Domains and Dimensions by clicking and editing them in the grid.

   Note: VELS terminology is slightly different to AusVELS terminology. For example VELS uses the terms Domains and Dimensions, whereas AusVELS uses Learning Areas and Strands.
