Attendance/Absence Events

This section outlines the changes to the Attendance and absence events (v59) manual arising from changes made to Synergetic (version 58.09-v59.14).

More information

See

Attendance maintenance - use work table approach.

Synergetic no longer writes directly to the attendances table. Instead it uses a work table and only posts to the live system once the attendances have been submitted. This stops the situation where you are entering a class and then exit leaving the attendance records in live data.

Attendance window

Attendance Maintenance - new fields added to the Attendance window.

Late arrival and early departure fields have been added to the Attendance window.

Attendance window

Attendance Maintenance - ability to default to students either being non-attended or attended.

This is a requirement for New Zealand schools, however Australian schools may prefer to select marking students present, rather marking students absent. Also, see the corresponding topic in the System maintenance manual.

Attendance window

Attendance Maintenance - show possible nonattendance details.

When marking attendances, Synergetic looks to see if a student is absent, in the sick bay or has an appointment scheduled with another staff member. The details of the appointment are displayed at the bottom of the window and the student appears as in a blue italicised font in the Attendance window grid.

Attendance window

Attendance Maintenance - user flags.

Up to five additional user-defined fields (columns) can be included in the grid area. For example, you can set the flags to mark whether homework has been submitted, merit points have been awarded or demerit points have been given to a student during class. Also, see the corresponding topic in the System maintenance manual.

Attendance window

Attendance Maintenance - allow timetable group selection if showing classes not yet marked.

If the option to show classes that have not yet been marked is selected, then a timetable group can be selected.

Also, it automatically only shows all periods that have finished. For example, if the time is currently 9.30am and period 1 ends at 9.30am then only unmarked period 1 classes are displayed. The Period up to can be changed using the drop-down list. These selections lend themselves to right clicking and then emailing all of those staff who have not yet marked their attendances.
