Past Student Maintenance

Use the Absent tab to show the details of any absence events from your organisation during the nominated year. The most recent absence events records are displayed at the top of the grid.

Absence event records are created for any absent students, when the class is marked on the Attendance window. See Attendance window in the Attendance and absence events manual.

To open the Absent tab:

Select Module > Development > Past Student Maintenance from the main menu.
The Set Past Student Search Criteria window is displayed.

Tip: You can also access the past student functions by clicking .
Select the past student. See Searching for past students.
The Personal tab of the Past Student Maintenance window is displayed.
Click the Absent tab.
The Absent tab of the Past Student Maintenance window is displayed.

Year	Select the year in which the absence events occurred. Defaults to the current year.

Field	Description
Event Type	Type of absence event or mode. For example, absence slips.
Out	Out date and time for the absence event, if relevant.
In	In date and time for the absence event, if relevant.
Type	Type of absence for the absence event. For example, school camp. Absence types are defined in the luAbsenceType lookup table. See Maintaining lookup tables in the Synergetic System maintenance manual. Note: New Zealand schools use the absence codes required by the NZ Ministry of Education (NZ MOE).
Reason	Possible absence reason selected from the drop-down list, when the absence event is added. For example, car breakdown. Reasons are defined by your organisation using the luAbsenceReason lookup table. See Maintaining lookup tables in the Synergetic System maintenance manual.
Event Comment	Additional comments entered when the absence event is added. This is a free-form text field. For example, 'car ran out of petrol' may have been the reason given by the student when they were late.
Approved	Selected if the absence event was approved. Note: Only some absence event types may have been set to require an approval at your organisation.
Late	Selected if the student arrived late.
Note	Selected if the student's parent or guardian has provided a note explaining the absence.
