On 14 September 2015, the Victorian Government launched Victoria’s response to the Australian Curriculum - the Victorian Curriculum. The Victorian Curriculum has two parts:

Catholic schools in Victoria

In Catholic schools, implementation of the Victorian Curriculum F-10 will commence from 2017 and must be fully implemented by the end of 2018; at schools where it is planned, taught, assessed and reported upon.

Transitional requirements

The following new text must appear on all school reports when schools transition to the Victorian Curriculum F-10:

Progress is shown for English and Mathematics. As new curriculum areas are introduced and taught in the Victorian Curriculum, your child’s progress will show the level of achievement in that curriculum area. Progress will only be shown when a curriculum area is reported on for the second time.

Transitioning to the Victorian Curriculum F-10

To transition to the Victorian Curriculum F-10:

  1. Load the pre-defined curriculum frameworks using the Subject Assessment Other Definition Maintenance window. See Loading pre-defined curriculum frameworks.

  2. Load external system lookup table data into the luReportResultType lookup table. See luReportResultType lookup table.

  3. Add the DNP (Did Not Participate) result to the luReportResultType lookup table. See Adding the DNP result to the luReportResultType lookup table.
  4. Load external system lookup table data into the luReportResultClassification lookup table. See luReportResultClassification lookup table.

  5. Create Victorian Curriculum F-10 subject assessments. You can either:

  6. Ensure the Show Result Classification field is selected for each Victorian Curriculum subject assessment on the Summary sub-tab of the Summary tab of Subject Assessment Maintenance. See Subject Assessment Maintenance - Summary tab - Summary sub-tab.

    Tip: You can complete this step faster by setting the Show Results Classification field value in bulk. See Setting field values in bulk in the Introduction manual.

Entering Victorian Curriculum results

Once you have completed the transition to the Victorian Curriculum F-10 curriculum framework you can enter Victorian Curriculum results in Student Results Maintenance. See Maintaining student results.

Students that do not participate in assessments need to be given the DNP (Did Not Participate) result value. When this value is selected you are prompted to enter a mandatory result classification. For information on adding the DNP result value, see Adding the DNP result to the luReportResultType lookup table.

Note: You can create expected result subject assessment areas to enter the results students are expected to attain. See Creating subject assessment areas for entering expected results.
