This section outlines the changes to the System maintenance manual arising from changes made to Synergetic (version 61.00-61.35).

Default Absence Type Code.

You can assign a default absence type code to an absence event type (mode) rather than it being left unexplained.

New luSubSchool lookup table.

The luSubSchool lookup table is used mostly by multi-campus organisations that provide schooling for all year levels at each campus.

For example, year levels can be grouped into a:

  • junior school
  • middle school
  • senior school.

The sub-school can then be used for searching for current and future students.

New configuration settings required when creating new current or future student when the contact is the student.

This change applies when creating a new current or future student and the Contact is Student field is selected.

By default a parent constituency is added on the Constits tab in Community Maintenance.

A new ParentFlag configuration setting has been added to prevent the parent constituency being added.

Also, the student is given the contact relationship of Self. The name of this relationship can be changed using the RelationDescription configuration setting.

Future students set up data.

New topics have been added to maintain future student setup data because the Activity tab is used from future students and recently from current students.

Additional information is provided to set up data to help users create activities from current students, such as the SortOrder field (column).

The AutoAddCourse setting has been documented for future students, based on the corresponding setting used in current students.

Add support for academic years that start in the middle of the year.

A new configuration setting is used by organisations that:

  • Start their academic year in the middle of the year. For example, running from July 2014 to June 2015.
  • Report student enrolments to the NZMOE in March and July.

This ensures that the July roll return is using data from the correct file year. For example, the July 2014 roll return uses student enrolment data from the 2014-2015 academic year.

New fields have been added in the General tab of Banking Configuration Maintenance to allow you to define your own Crystal Reports files for bank deposit lists and cheque stationary.

New Configuration File Maintenance settings for purchase order notifications.

New settings have been added in Configuration File Maintenance to store emailed purchase order notifications in the DocMan tab of Creditor Maintenance.

A new BookedByUser configuration setting has been added to control whether new bookings select the current user by default.

You can now set user forms to appear as tabs in the Object Maintenance window.

A new AllowManualEdit configuration setting has been added to control whether or not users can edit the Latitude and Longitude coordinates of the following tabs of the Community Maintenance window:

  • Home Address tab
  • Company Address tab.

Separate select group security setting.

You now have more control over group security settings. Only users with the Select security permission in Group/User Security Maintenance are able to view tabs or modules and open them from the menu.

New field in Bulk Generate Address DPIDs.

A new field Update Address Postcodes if Different allows you to automatically correct the postcodes in the database if they are different to those generated by the RAT.

New group/user security setting.

 

A new security setting CommunityMaintenance | FlipBreakSpouse has been added to the System module in Group/User Security Maintenance to control the ability to flip and break spouses. Users with the Delete permission at the time of upgrade are automatically given permission.

Caption override removed from user forms.

Synergetic no longer overrides a user form caption of semester to the override term listed in Student File Semester Maintenance window. It is no longer necessary to use the ~ prefix to prevent a caption being overridden: the ~ prefix has been dropped from all captions.

User forms can now call database functions.

You can now use database functions that return tables to create user forms, allowing you to pass additional information to the database.

A new topic has been added detailing how to schedule User Reports to run automatically.

Setting the schedule date to the 31st of the month now runs the report on the last day of each month, regardless of how many days in that month.
